One time, Jude Law flirted with me.

I feel I need to share this story because it’s probably the best thing that’s ever happened to me. I went to go see him in Hamlet in NYC, and I ended up leaving the theater essentially very last, because I was in one of the final rows to be filed out and then I had to use the restroom (which I was obviously last in line for, due to previous point). Anyway. I leave finally, and am sort of meandering down the theater’s block as I check my phone, needing to figure out which way I’ve gotta go to catch the subway back uptown. That’s when I notice some commotion behind me.

I turn around, and I see Jude Law walk out of the stage door that’s 5 feet away, and realize there is a group of about 15 people standing around waiting for him. So, obviously I went over to join them, and I must say, he was a DELIGHT. He was just chatting with everyone, extremely friendly, asking how people liked the show and engaging in conversation (not just signing a couple of autographs and running away, because he is a classy BAMF). 

Anyway, he makes his way around to where I am, and we talk about the show for a minute, then he asks me if I’d like him to sign my playbill, and I say “OF COURSE” (hopefully not like that though). And when he takes it from me, our hands brush, and he immediately says, “Oh my god, your hands are so cold!” Then, I kid you not, he puts my playbill in his jacket pocket for a second and grabs my hands, and proceeds to rub them between his own, and THEN pulls them up to his mouth and blows his hot breath on them, just like your mom would do after you come in from playing in the snow or something. “There, that’s better”, he says smiling, and I am clearly immobile at that point. Thankfully he doesn’t notice he’s ruined me, he just goes right along and pops the playbill out of his pocket, signs it, and hands it back to me. Then I say (as smoothly as I can manage), “Thank you so much”.

And then he says - in this perfect way you can only say with a British accent - “My pleasure.” THEN HE WINKS AT ME.

And then, I ceased to exist. Obviously he wasn’t actually flirting but that is how I shall choose to interpret his actions forever and ever amen.

Anyway, let this be a lesson: you can always meet celebs at the stage door! And sometimes they will even be very friendly!
